Quality Missing Parent DNA Testing – Family Reconstruction DNA Test
When the alleged father is absent, unwilling, or otherwise unavailable to test, we can perform missing parent DNA testing. This test is also referred to as a family genetic reconstruction test. A family genetic reconstruction DNA test is an indirect way to confirm paternity or other biological relationships when that parent is not available for a DNA test.
What Relatives Can Participate In The Reconstruction Test
The family reconstruction DNA test is done with a target, or child, and 2 paternal relatives such as alleged aunts, uncles, or grandparents (or sisters, brothers, or parents of the father.)
How To Make Test More Conclusive
It is also helpful to include the child’s mother in the test if possible. This will ensure we have the most complete picture of the family genetics, and will produce the most conclusive result. When a known mother takes part in the missing parent DNA testing, we compare the mother and child, and then eliminate the maternal DNA from the child’s profile. This allows us to focus only on the paternal DNA in question. As a result, with this maternal DNA eliminated, the test outcome is as definitive as it can get.
In the genetic reconstruction test, or missing parent DNA testing, the paternal relatives’ DNA is compared against the child to produce a combined related index. Please note that other children of the alleged father are not compatible for this type of testing. If you want to test with the alleged father’s other children, then please purchase a siblingship DNA test instead. Additionally, a Y-STR male lineage test if all participants are male. On the other hand, if a relationship is trying to be established on the mother’s side, an mtDNA female lineage test will offer a conclusive answer regardless of gender.
Why Risk Using Your Own Q-tips® – We ShipA Sterile Collection Kit To You For Free
Our missing parent DNA testing package is complete with testing collection kit, DNA analysis and test results. Some companies advertise that you can make your own collection kit by using your own Q-tips®. However, strongly recommend against this practice. There is a risk of multiple DNA samples being found on Q-tips® that are not sterile, or that may have been handled by more than one person. Q-tips® you may have in your home could already have DNA from other sources on them. For this reason, we send a grandparent DNA collection kit containing sterile buccal swabs to you at no charge. We ship the collection kit to you via FREE so you have your sterile medical swabs as ready for use quickly.

Participants In Different Cities Or States
It isn’t uncommon for test participants to live too far apart to get together for a DNA collection. We offer an option to have multiple collection kits shipped out for these situations. When you place your order, simply choose the option for an additional address. We send each collection kit for all addresses on your order within the contiguous USA with the same shipping method as the first. The collection kits are linked through reference numbers and bar codes before leaving the lab. Then, when the samples are received back in lab, they are matched to your case through the bar code and reference numbers.
Missing Parent DNA Testing Process And Sample Collection
The collection process for missing parent DNA testing is very simple. DNA is easily collected through a cheek swab, which is also called a buccal swab. The swab, similar to a large Q-tip, is painlessly rubbed against the inside of the cheek to collect skin cells from the inside of the mouth. We conduct all of our tests twice. For that reason, there will be 4 buccal swabs per person in your collection kit. Do two swabs on each side of the mouth. It is best to rinse the mouth with water and refrain from smoking or drinking coffee or tea for 2-3 hours before the DNA collection. Once the swabs have been taken, place the samples in the return prepaid mailer. Finally, simply drop the samples off at the courier’s location or box to send your kit back to the lab for testing.
When all samples are in the lab, you will be notified via email that testing has begun. We will email your missing parent DNA testing results when the analysis is complete, within 3-5 business days. If hard copy results are ordered, the report is sent to the billing address unless otherwise noted.
We ship our collection kits Monday through Friday to physical addresses in the contiguous USA. Orders received and processed by 2:00 PM EST are shipped the same business day. Orders received after 2:00 PM EST are shipped the following business day.
When You Need A Legal Or Immigration Family Genetic Reconstruction Test
If you need the result for your DNA testing to be admissible in court for inheritance purposes, to change a name, etc., then you will need a legally-binding family reconstruction test. If you simply want the test results for personal knowledge, then the non-legal family reconstruction DNA test is right for you.
Other Types Of DNA Samples
The most common method of DNA collection is through a cheek swab. However, we understand there are times when test participant is unable to submit a swab, such as may be the case where a family member may be deceased, incarcerated or otherwise unavailable. For these reasons, we offer forensic processing services for other types of DNA samples. Ear wax, hair (must have the root ball attached), mucous on a tissue, finger or toe nail clippings, and toothbrushes are common forensic samples. Additionally, in certain cases tissue or blood samples may be available from a medical examiner or coroner’s office. Forensic sampling prices apply for samples other than cheek swabs. Contact a PaternityUSA Case Manager for pricing and more details.
