Our Laboratory is located on the
campus of New Mexico State
University,
located in Las Cruces, New
Mexico.
We perform DNA human
identity tests using the most advanced technology and discriminating
tests available.
We are accredited by the
American Association of Blood Banks (A.A.B.B.) as a Parentage Testing
Laboratory, and as such, all accredited parentage tests are performed
according to A.A.B.B. standards. All tests are supervised and results
reviewed by Ph. D. scientists on our staff.
We use the latest DNA-based technology with state-of-the-art robotic
equipment. While many other labs use only 5 or 9 genetic markers,
we use 16 genetic markers,
which is sometimes referred to as a “premium test.” This is the most
powerful DNA test done in the industry
exceeding the standards
used by the FBI for
human identification requiring that only 13 genetic markers be analyzed.
When
you choose a laboratory that is A.A.B.B. accredited, you can rely that
the protocols used for ALL DNA tests are in stringent accordance to
A.A.B.B. guidelines.
The American Association Of
Blood Banks sets the industry's standards for quality and reliability in
DNA testing. For a lab to have their DNA test made valid in
a court of law, they must be A.A.B.B. accredited. Many small labs
can not perform their own Legal tests, having to refer those cases to
another laboratory that is actually accredited, because they are not.
So ask yourself, If their results can not be trusted in court, CAN YOU
TRUST THEIR RESULTS??

If A Non Accredited Lab's
Results Can Not Be Trusted In Court,
SHOULD YOU TRUST IT??
Why trust your paternity testing
issues to some out of the country or small no name laboratory offering
cheap paternity tests? Wouldn't you want to make sure
you could trust the results?
The paternity testing industry has
become very competitive, and there are many folks looking to make a
quick buck offering a cheap paternity test. Laboratories are going
out of business all the time. Paternity fraud from companies that
simply collect the funds, but never deliver an accurate test is on the
rise. In-fact, we've heard of other companies that ask their
clients if they feel the child is theirs or not in the order process.
When you choose us, you will get a
"Quality Premium Paternity Test" performed at our state of the art
genetic laboratory at The New Mexico State University.
Wouldn't you want to make sure the lab you choose if going to be around
tomorrow? We Want To Serve Your Needs!

Our Accuracy Guarantee
In
almost all paternity cases, if the alleged father is the true father,
all 15 genetic markers will match those of the child (the 16th genetic
marker is used to confirm the sex of the person). This is referred to as
“no exclusions.”
*We guarantee that in such cases (testing the mother,
child, and alleged father), our tests will yield Probabilities of
Paternity of more than 99.999%. This is a 1000 times more than the 99%
required by the AABB (American Association of Blood Banks). Such
extremely high probabilities mean that you can have the peace of mind
that the tested father is the true father.
If we fail to exceed
Probabilities of Paternity of 99.999% in cases of no exclusions, we will
refund the cost of the test.
Another way to interpret a minimum Probability of Paternity of 99.999%
is that the chance of a wrong conclusion (i.e., that the biological
father is not the man tested) is at worst 1 in 100,000. Typically in our
tests, these odds are 1 in millions, or even higher.
It is
possible for the tested father to be the true father and still have one
or even two exclusions (mismatched genetic markers) because of mutations
in the father’s DNA. In most cases of one exclusion, the Probability of
Paternity will still be very high (greater than 99.9%), although this
cannot be guaranteed. Cases of two exclusions may be ambiguous and
require further testing of additional genetic markers. Cases of three or
more exclusions result in the conclusion that the tested father is
“excluded” as being the father of the child. This results in a
probability of exclusion of 100%.
If a
test includes only one parent and the child, we cannot guarantee a
minimal probability of parenthood. In most cases, however, these
probabilities are greater than 99.99%.
*This guarantee assumes that the persons
tested are each members of one of the following races: Asian-American,
African-American, Caucasian-American, or Hispanic-American. This is
because the probabilities of paternity depend on the frequencies of
different genetic markers in databases based on these races. We can
still perform paternity tests with family members from other races, but
calculations become more conservative and may possibly result in
probabilities of paternity of less than 99.999%, although this is
unlikely if all 15 genetic markers in the father match.

Why Should The Lab You Choose Be A.A.B.B.
Accredited?
Some laboratories
advertise themselves as “accredited” by the American Association of
Blood Banks (A.A.B.B.) while others do not. Accredited laboratories have
passed a rigorous review and inspection of their testing processes and
laboratory to insure that tests are being done accurately and
thoroughly. Accredited laboratories also participate in proficiency
tests and are re-inspected annually.
Purchasing a paternity test through
an unaccredited laboratory is at best a gamble; it may be cheaper, but
should you sacrifice quality for such an important test?
To be
an “accredited paternity test” the A.A.B.B. requires that the DNA sample
collection be witnessed by a neutral third party with no interest in the
outcome of the test. Furthermore, photographic proof of identity is
required to be submitted with the test to verify the identity of the
persons submitting the samples.
By
definition, home (or “self-collected”) paternity tests are not
accredited unless they meet the above requirements. Many families opt
for a home test kit because it is more affordable and they wish to be
discreet. If any laboratory advertises an “accredited home test” without
these requirements they are lying and violating A.A.B.B. standards.
Simply stated in order for a paternity test to be accredited, it must be
a legally binding test meeting the "chain of custody".
At the
our Genetic Testing Laboratory, our Informational Home Test does not require proof of identity and
is therefore not an A.A.B.B. accredited test.
The Legal
Test, however, is an accredited test and comes with full instructions on
the duties of the witness and what qualifies as proof of identity.
By identifying the tested parties and following the instructions
You may
rest assured that the only difference between non-accredited home
paternity tests and accredited legal paternity tests is the manner in
which the persons being tested are identified.
For a test to be admissible in court, proof must be provided of the
identification of the persons being tested ("Chain Of Custody").
Other than this consideration, the DNA tests are absolutely identical
and follow all A.A.B.B. standards regardless of
accreditation.
This is why it's so important that you choose a laboratory that is
accredited by the A.A.B.B., and is fully accredited.
